The Body Shop enter the Chinese cosmetics market Essay
The Body Shop enter the Chinese cosmetics market - Essay Example Since 1949, the telltale signs of Chinaââ¬â¢s economic improvement are convincing (Raiklin, 2012). First, China was able to resolve its anarchy and disorder issues. With the resolution of the two issues, businesses can now flourish. The resolution of the two issues indicates peace and order currently prevails in todayââ¬â¢s china environment. Further, peace and order allows the current and future customers to freely visit the nearest stores (Ferrell, 2011). The current and future customers are not fearful of being robbed while crossing the street towards the nearest department store. Similarly, the typical Chinese customers is assured that he will be able to visit the nearest corner store without be shot or killed by the street gangs. With peace and order prevailing, the customers are able to visit the stores during late nights to buy their food, medicines, and other personal necessities (Raiklin, 2013). The peace and order allows the stores to open up their shops (Hartline, 2011). The store owners will not fear that the store will be robbed. The presence of police officers watching the busy China streets will discourage the current and future store robbers from implementing their illegal activities. The stores will be able generate enough sales to pay for the costs and expenses of operating the stores (Raiklin, 2013). Street gangs will discourage economic benefits (Baumol, 2009). The stores located within street gang-infested streets will constantly be robbed by street gangs. Street gangs may threaten current and future customers who enter the store. Consequently, the current and future customers may decide to buy from safer places. Chinaââ¬â¢s peaceful economic climate will ensure the Body Shop will continue to generate higher store visits and purchases from current and future customers. With the two issues resolved, the people learn to obey societal rules (Weihrich, 2009). The people learn to implement the

Licensing and Professional Organization Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words
Licensing and Professional Organization - Essay Example In most cases, the program has a theoretical background, which has evidence regarding on clinical experiences on community-based practice settings (Sullivan-Marx, 2010). In this program, the nursing students get the chance to develop different skills when it comes to providing direct care, health assessments, health maintenance and information, which is useful in the promotion of health care to any given family. Generally, primary care nursing program deals with familyââ¬â¢s mental, emotional, physical and sociocultural systems (Sullivan-Marx, 2010). Based on this specialty, I would expect to work in one of the many Georgiaââ¬â¢s community health clinics. The Glenn Hills Community School-Based Clinic in Georgia being a community health care in Georgia as a big Primary Care organization favors my line of career(Georgia, 1996). The operating systems at the facility are versatile and updated; therefore, the environment at the organization will favor my career (Buppert, 2008). Additionally, I hope to learn a lot from this organization in terms of my nursing career. The Georgia community health clinic mostly addresses issues ranging from primary care needs, order diagnostic tests and writing of prescriptions (Sullivan-Marx, 2010). Alternatively, the organization focuses on helping in the application of evidence-based, management of common acute and some of the chronic health problems among individuals. All the mentioned care approaches directly lie in my line of duty(Georgia, 1996).

Fly Fishing and Spin Fishing Essay Example for Free
Fly Fishing and Spin Fishing Essay Fly Fishing and Spin Fishing are fishing methods used by hobbyist to catch fish. Both types are considered as Angling. Angling is a type of fishing that uses angles or a hook. Anglers are considered as fishers who have intent on releasing their catch in the water. According to Central Fisheries Board of Ireland (2007), the waters were anglers fish have the rule where catch and release rule are enforced. II. Difference of Fly Fishing and Spin Fishing There are several differences that can be seen between both methods. Fly fishing is a method where artificial flies are used and attached to the hook to imitate naturally occurring food. These artificial flies are tied out of materials such as fur and feather. Spin Fishing is a method where a spin fishing tackle is used to catch fish. a. Rods and Fishing Lines Used According to Flyfishingbasics. com (2007), rods that are used for fly-fishing is generally light and the lines are heavy. The lines are heavy because these provide the weight and momentum for casting. On the other hand, Fishsa.com (2007) explains that the rod for spin-fishing is used as a lever to fling the weight of the lure. Comparing both methods, the fly fishing method uses the weight of the line to carry the fly to the fish while the spin fishing uses the weight of the lure to pull the line out of the reel. Casting method for flyfishing is harder as compared to spinfishing according to flysa. com (2007). b. Fishing Equipment Fly Fishing uses a fly rod, a reel and a line. The baits that the fly fishing angler uses are artificial flies. These flies depends on the user of the rod. There are different types of flies. These are streamers, dry flies, wet flies and poppers. Streamers are long and skinny and these flies sink and looks like a baitfish. Dry Flies are flies that float. Wet Flies are flies that sink and lastly, poppers are floating flies that are made out of cork. These flies can be bought from the fishing stores or they can be made using fly tying techniques. Fly Tying is considered as another different type of hobby that is used to make artificial flies. Differentiating spin fishing, this method also has a rod and a reel, however, this method uses live lures. The lures that an angler uses depends on the type of fish that the angler wants to catch. Worms and Insect Larva is used to catch bluegill or sunfish. Worms, nightcrawlers, and stinkbaits are used for Catfish. Minnows and worms are for Crappie. Minnows and nightcrawlers are for Bass. Worms, corn and doughballs are for carp and lastly the trouts are catched using worms and minnows. c. Economic Value Evaluating both methods, Fly fishing is a more expensive method than Spin Fishing. According to Flyfishingbasics. com (2007), a fly rod, reel and line combo costs at around $60 to $120 and flies costs at around $1 to $5 per piece. Spin fishing rod and Reel costs at around $10 to $20 and baits costs at around $1 to $3 per dozen and the prepared baits are from $1. 50 to $4. 50 per dozen. As a conclusion, it seems that spin fishing is more practical as compared to the fly-fishing. Since casting is easier to learn for spin fishing and the baits used for spin fishing is much cheaper than the fly-fishing. It is therefore easier to recommend spin fishing for beginners because it is easier to learn. REFERENCES Central Fisheries Board, 2000. Catch and Release for Atlantic Salmon. Analysis of Economies Based on Data Into Stage 1, 2 and 3
Analysis of Economies Based on Data Into Stage 1, 2 and 3 Indranil Dhar Analysis of economies based on data into Stage 1, Stage 2 and Stage 3 Based on World Economic Forumââ¬â¢s Global Competitiveness Report 2014/2015[1]. And the data provided in the spread sheet, the countries can be divided into: Factor Driven Economies (Stage 1)[2] Efficiency Driven Economies (Stage 2)[3] Innovation Driven Economies (Stage 3)[4] This distinction is primarily based upon GDP per Capita as well as share of exports of mineral goods in total exports.[5] Stage 1 Factor Driven Economies: Vietnam Myanmar Nicaragua Transition from Stage 1 to Stage 2 Botswana Stage 2 Efficiency Driven Economies Thailand Tunisia Transition from Stage 2 to Stage 3 Croatia Mauritius Stage 3 Innovation Driven Economies Greece Hence Competitive index of a stage 1 economy can be calculated as follows: = 0.6(Factory Driven Economies) + 0.35(Efficiency Driven Economies) +0.05 K- which is a constant for Innovation Driven Economies) Hence Competitive index of a stage 2 economy can be calculated as follows: = 0.5(Factory Driven Economies) + 0.45(Efficiency Driven Economies) +0.05 K- which is a constant for Innovation Driven Economies) Hence Competitive index of a stage 3 economy can be calculated as follows: = 0.2(Factory Driven Economies) + 0.5(Efficiency Driven Economies) +0.3 K- which is a constant for Innovation Driven Economies) Here 1st Pillar: Institutions (25%) Intellectual property protection Burden of Government regulation Here 2nd Pillar: Infrastructure (25%) Quality of Overall Infrastructure Here 3rd pillar: Macroeconomic environment (25%) Gross National Savings as a % of GDP( Here since all the parameters are in range of 1-7 with 1 being worst and 7 being best, I have modified the data within excel to showcase this( please refer Appendix A) Here 4th pillar: Health and primary education (25%) Quality of primary education Hence Factor Driven Economies = (Intellectual property protection+ Burden of Government regulation)/2(25%) + Quality of Overall Infrastructure (25%) + Gross National Savings as a % of GDP (25%) + Quality of primary education (25%) Here 5th pillar: Higher education and training (17%) Quality of maths and science education Here 6th pillar: Goods Market efficiency (17%) Trade Tariffs(Here since all the parameters are in range of 1-7 with 1 being worst and 7 being best, I have modified the data within excel to showcase this( please refer Appendix A) Here 9th pillar: Technological Readiness (17%) FDI and technology transfer (17%) Here Efficiency Driven Economies = (Quality of maths and science education (17%) + Goods Market efficiency (17%) + Technological Readiness (17%)) (Since information about other pillars are not present) We will analyse the countries at each stage with regards to its short term growth (up to 10-15 years) and long term growth (15-20yrs +) on the basis of the competitive index at their respective stages and the competitive index of their next higher stage. If the competitive index of a country at its own stage is high it means that the country is away from its steady state and hence it will have short term growth prospects. Similarly if the competitive index of a country is higher at its next stage it means it is ready for the next level and hence it has long term growth prospects. This is off course subject to the condition that the current growth parameters at its current stage are at a satisfactory level. Analysis of Stage 1 economies Since these are stage 1 economy the assumption here is more or less they have a similar production function though convergence law may not apply as these countries are having different economic, cultural, geographical, historical backgrounds. As Stage 1 economies, the growth rate is heavily dependent upon capital accumulation which in turn is dependent on high investment (savings rate). It will also depend upon primary education, quality of infrastructure, labour, and health and primary institutions more than secondary education or trade barriers or technological innovation. It will also depend if the country has reached its steady state at that production function level and at what level of capital accumulation. Only if it shows sustained growth i.e. it is far away from its steady state and its primary factors( competitive index at stage 1) is high, it can be evaluated to check if can increase its production function to the next higher level for which more importance will then be gi ven onto secondary education, trade barriers and technological advances( Competitive index 2). Also GDP growth of previous years gives a trend. Considering the above factors we can conclude that Vietnam will grow the fastest within the next 10-15 years (short term). As it shows favourable stats it can progress to the next higher stage in the next 20 years. Myanmar on the other hand seems to have achieved steady state at a very less capital. Since the rate of investment is less and its primary factors such as education and infrastructure is less, its growth prospects are less. With a high trade barrier and less secondary education and lesser technological advances it cannot graduate itself to a stage 2 economy in the next 20 years. Nicaragua has similar statistics to that of Myanmar. However its primary education, quality of infrastructure is higher which suggests a higher growth prospect. Since its trade barriers are less and technological parameters are high, it has more chances of long term growth than Myanmar. Overall, the ranking on the basis of long term growth is as follows: Vietnam Nicaragua Myanmar Analysis of Stage 2 economies Since these are stage 2 economies, these will be more dependent on the next higher production function curve which is higher education, trade barriers, and technological advances. Off course investment in infrastructure, institutions, primary education and capital accumulation will still remain important though not as high as they were for stage 1 economies. Botswana seems to be leading the pack but because it is highly dependent upon minerals mainly diamond mining which have finite years and are subject to market speculations[10], it will be ranked lower to that of Thailand due to the fact that it is lesser in secondary education and technology transfer. Thailand in fact can graduate to the next higher level in the next 20 years. Tunisia on the other hand due to its high trade barrier will have consistent slow growth rate at its current productivity levels and will not progress to the next higher level. Overall, the ranking on the basis of long term growth is as follows: Thailand Botswana Tunisia Analysis of Stage 3 economies Since these are already stage 3 economies, the determinant factor will be their distance from steady state. And this will be dependant on high total factor productivity factors such as technological innovation, efficiency, human capital, trade barriers more than capital accumulation or primary education or quality of infrastructure unless there is a big issue with those parameters. The competitive index of stage 3 sums up the critical factors and based on that we can say Mauritius is having this highest growth prospect followed by Croatia and Greece. Greece is having a recession which can suggest in a way that it has reached its steady state. Since itââ¬â¢s technological and efficiency factors are not very high, it will struggle to grow in both short as well as long term. Overall, the ranking on the basis of long term growth is as follows: Mauritius Croatia Greece Conclusion: Based on the above analysis, we can conclude that Vietnam is the most growing country whereas Greece is the least. The rankings are as follows: Vietnam Thailand Botswana Nicaragua Mauritius Tunisia Myanmar Croatia Greece Iron Law of convergence Convergence can only happen when the countries are similar in terms of geography, culture, history and other related parameters. Countries that can be clubbed together Vietnam, Thailand and Myanmar Croatia and Greece Mauritius and Botswana In the case of Vietnam, Thailand and Myanmar, Vietnam can catch up with Thailand in the next 20-30 years. Similarly, Croatia will catch up with Greece within the next 10 years. And finally Botswana will catch up with Mauritius within next 10 years. Ogden Nash :: essays research papers
à à à à à Ogden Nash is one of Americaââ¬â¢s most popular humorists of the twentieth century and one of Americaââ¬â¢s most quoted poets also. He has coined some of the most popular quotes such as Mr. Feltenââ¬â¢s favorite quote, ââ¬Å"Candy is dandy, but liquor is quicker.â⬠Nash combines satire, sharp wit, and unorthodox rhymes and has admitted to breaking every grammar law in the English language while making his poems and is well known for it also. à à à à à Ogden Nash was born in Rye, New York in 1902 to parents of southern decent. His family was already well known all over that area because his great-great grandfather was the Governor of North Carolina during the American Revolution. Nashville, Tennessee was named for another of Nashââ¬â¢s ancestors. Nash grew up on the East Coast of the United States to maintain his fatherââ¬â¢s import-export business. He attended St. Georgeââ¬â¢s School in Newport, Rhode Island from 1917-1920, upon graduation he attended Harvard University for one year. He then taught one year at his alma mater of St. Georgeââ¬â¢s but left after one year. He then worked as a bond salesman in New York City and quickly found out that he was not suited for any kind of financial jobs. In 1925 he began working for Doubleday, Doran, as an advertising copywriter. In 1931 he married Frances Rider Leonard and soon after published his first book, Hard Lines, which was his first book of humorous verses, it became an instant success, selling out seven printings. He then realized that he was making more money writing poetry than he was working his job as a copy write editor.
National Geographic: Mysteries Underground :: essays research papers
National Geographic: Mysteries Underground à à à à à The video I reviewed was a National Geographic film called Mysteries Underground. This video was about extraordinary sites there are to see in underground caves. You traveled along with cave explorers and got to see all the beautiful untouched natural formations such as gypsum chandeliers, gnarled calcite columns, and jewel-like lakes. It showed and talked about all the careful proceders the cave explorers go through. It also talked about how the formations were made over such a long time. à à à à à I learned many interesting things that would never seem possible. In the world's new most exotic ,Lechuguilla, cave there lied water so clean and clear that the cave explorers were forced to take all there clothes off before they swam acrossed it because the littlest dirt from any clothing would contaminate the pureness of the water. All the cave explorers are very cautious as to what they touch or where they step because some of the crystal formations are so fragile that the slightest vibration from a voice or a footstep could ruin millions of years of forming. In some parts of caves there are giant and very smooth ice formations that must be slid down very carefully because if they are not taken cautiously you will pick up to much speed while sliding and finally hit some kind of stone wall or something. One lady was not careful enough and boy did she pay. She was only a mile and a half or so in the cave and she broke her leg. It took almost five days to get who to the surface of the cave where she could be attended to. Also I found out that caves were much larger then I had originally thought. The largest cave now, Mammoth Cave, is over 200 miles long. And if you are exploring a cave being miles and miles from the entrance it is very important that you be careful because if you break your leg that far from the entrance it would probably take months to get you out safely. One safety precaution I learned was that when the explorers are traveling through cold water they must make sure they don't get their upperbody wet because that will cause them to freeze and get many sicknesses that are caused by the cold. One thing that I found interesting was that with the technology today you would think that we would have all the caves discovered and explored. We aren't close at all. In fact some caves have been being explored for years and there is still no end in sight.

Henrietta Koramoah What I learned-Poison Gas used in World War I I learned a lot about World War I and a lot about poison gas during this assignment. First I learned that poison gas was used as an accessory that killed a lot of people. I learned that the use of poison gas was started by France. They used poison gas against Germans in the war. Then Germans started using poison gas against most of the other country and their allies. The poison gas used was phosgene gas, mustard gas, chlorine, Asphyxiate, and Lachrymator (tearing agent). Most of these gases contain toxic and a harmful bacterium that can cause damage to humans immediately. Secondly I learned that for first time in the war; poison gas was like a weapon but only used to frighten soldiers. Even though the soldiers had their mask on, some were still injured. In 1917 when the United States joined the war, after defeated by the Germans most countries like the British got mask for their soldier and used poison gas as a respond t o their enemies such as the Germans.Thirdly I learned that, France and British made more mask to protect them from the pain of poison gas. The Germans defeated a lot of countries with the help of poison gas. Even though poison gas did injured and hurt a lot of people. The number of damages caused by poison gas was low to the damages caused by machine guns. And lastly I learned that Germans were blamed for the damages caused in the war, I thought that was a little bit unfair but I thought Germans had it coming. So in conclusion this is what I learned about poison gas in my I-Search assignment.
